Security Tip: Turn off Autorun

It’s not a secret that most of the viruses like to use to infect victim’s PC’s via Autorun. The autorun.inf files in Windows operating systems are used to open and run files from removable media (such as USB, MP3 Players, CD\DVD’s etc.) However, the autorun virus simply hides behind the autorun.inf name while harming your computer at the same time Hacker’s, malware writers knows that removable devices   are one of the easiest way to spread their harmful codes. Conflicter, Kido are just 2 examples. So I highly recommend to disable Autorun in your PC’s, and here is few ways: WAY 1 Click the Start icon (    ) type “ gpedit.msc” in the Start Menu and press enter            3. Open Turn off Autoplay       Computer Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Windows Components –       ... [More]

Australian Passports in Google …

This week I am teaching EC Council’s famous Certified Ethical Hacker class, one of the chapter has some details on “Google hacking” … During the class we found very interesting details… If you name is listed below, or you know any of those people, please reach them out: My aim with publishing the name is to reach them out and let them change their ID numbers ASAP. We did reach out that web site, and they already removed the “link” (after 4 hours) But Google still has it cashed, and of course the web site will be reported to the Police. The good news is I had a student from NSW Police Department in the class , so WE do Ethical Hacking IF YOU KNOW ANY OF THEM PLEASE REACH THEM OUT : Sample’s of Australian Passports, Australian Driver Licences and Birth Certificates. I did just add one sample image of all ID’s that we found in the CEH class IF YOU KNOW ANY OF THEM PLEASE REACH THEM OUT : Margaret Pamela Simes, (Passport image above)... [More]

Don’t buy ASUS (or find a person who can help you)

UPDATE: After having nightmare weeks without my laptop, writing few complaints e-mails helped me to go the solution faster. This post is from my Asus laptop and it works as it should. Thank you for taking care of me and please train your staff to take more of your customers. Never ever BUY ASUS products anymore. I have a $4500 VX7S did not even used 2 days, send it to "service centre" after 2 weeks they decided (Asus Sydney Silverwater centre) it was a driver problem, let's say I am an idiot and have no clue of IT but that service centre did not even bother to double check their work…first restart same problem... “Is this driver issue again" Asus 2 option for YOU: 1) Build better products and hire better staff or 2 ) you will be like the others going down!!! From now on I will SCREEM about your SHIT products, if you think I am not reaching enough people... You will be surprised! Buy a laptop use it not even for a day and wait  2 weeks for a stupid service ce... [More]

Getting hacked by colour

A hacking anatomy and what we can learn out of it! There is nearly no single week , we don’t read in the news that there is a attack launched against a government, business or organization. As we all know there is NO WAY to STAP a Hacker. All what we can do is make their job harder ? But how? The best way is to keep an eye on Security News, to subscribe to some newsletters etc. Once a incident happens , we should look in to the details and learn from that. unfortunately, for most of us an incident can be much more effective than 100000 advises.  So we should learn from mistakes? Here is a very bad example : “The Turkish Government” . In last few months they had so many attacks , they were brought down so many times . the sad part of this is, when you check their “hacked” methods most of them are done with known vulnerabilities or more importantly with weak security. Let’s review their (Turkish Government) incidents and what they done as response... [More]

So You Want to Be a Security Expert

Repost from Bruce Schneier Blog I regularly receive e-mail from people who want advice on how to learn more about computer security, either as a course of study in college or as an IT person considering it as a career choice. First, know that there are many subspecialties in computer security. You can be an expert in keeping systems from being hacked, or in creating unhackable software. You can be an expert in finding security problems in software, or in networks. You can be an expert in viruses, or policies, or cryptography. There are many, many opportunities for many different skill sets. You don't have to be a coder to be a security expert. In general, though, I have three pieces of advice to anyone who wants to learn computer security. Study. Studying can take many forms. It can be classwork, either at universities or at training conferences like EC Council and OffensiveSecurity. (These are good self-starter resources.) It can be reading; there are a lot of excellent books out th... [More]
