Our vision and values

Our mission is to build skills and knowledge in our regions. We offer choice and flexibility to students and work hand-in-hand with our industries and communities in teaching, research and engagement. Growing from our historical roots, we share our knowledge and expertise as a significant regional export industry and we bring strength and learning from this back to our regions.

Through our values, we create a welcoming community experience and learning environment that supports innovative research, advances society and gives back to our regions.

Message from the Vice-Chancellor and President

The Charles Sturt brand is much more than a logo, it’s an expression of who we are as a university. It’s our voice, identity and reputation. The sum of all the experiences we create and deliver every day at Charles Sturt University. Our brand proudly tells our story – of a dynamic university full of passionate people creating a world worth living in.

Yindyamarra Winhanganha

This is a Wiradjuri phrase meaning ‘the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in’. This ethos is what drives Charles Sturt University, and it’s at the core of our brand.

We aim to be an education leader for Australia by empowering our communities with the resilience, drive and mindset to positively impact their world, and the world around them.

And we strive for this in everything we do – from our courses and student experience, to our research, partnerships and green initiatives.

It’s why we know where we’re going and how we’ll get there. And why we invite you to join us in creating a world worth living in.

On this site you’ll find resources to help you understand and use our brand

history

Whilst we’ve been a university for more than 20 years, our history of professional education and research spans more than 100 years. This started with the establishment of the Bathurst Experimental Farm in 1895.

Who are MVP’s ?

Microsoft Most Valuable Professional’s, or MVPs, are technology experts who passionately share their knowledge with the community. They are always on the “bleeding edge” and have an unstoppable urge to get their hands on new, exciting technologies. They have very deep knowledge of Microsoft products and services, while also being able to bring together diverse platforms, products and solutions, to solve real world problems. MVPs make up a global community of over 4,000 technical experts and community leaders across 90 countries/regions and are driven by their passion, community spirit, and quest for knowledge. Above all and in addition to their amazing technical abilities, MVPs are always willing to help others – that’s what sets them apart.

What is the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award?

For more than two decades, the Microsoft MVP Award is our way of saying “Thanks!” to outstanding community leaders. The contributions MVPs make to the community, ranging from speaking engagements, to social media posts, to writing books, to helping others in online communities, have incredible impact. Key benefits to MVPs include early access to Microsoft products, direct communication channels with our product teams and an invitation to the Global MVP Summit, an exclusive annual event hosted in our global HQ in Redmond.

They also have a very close relationship with the local Microsoft teams in their area, who are there to support and empower MVPs to address needs and opportunities in the local ecosystem. Other benefits include an executive recognition letter, a Visual Studio technical subscription, and an Office 365 subscription.

What does it take to be an Microsoft Most Valuable Professional?

There are 3 very simple steps: Be an expert, do lots of what you love, and let us know! Really, there isn’t a long checklist of things you need to do to become an MVP. The best MVPs really excel in step #2: they LOVE what they do. And we can tell! Whether you’re a great speaker, have a talent in blogging, lead a top technical community, are a social media superstar, a top GitHub or Stack Overflow contributor or have a totally different and cool way to share your passion for our products and services, we’d love to know more!

How can YOU become an Microsoft Most Valuable Professional?

Microsoft wants to award the best and brightest technical community leaders! To place yourself into consideration for the MVP Award, a nomination referral must be first submitted on your behalf by either a Microsoft Full Time Employee (FTE) or Microsoft MVP. Following this referral submission, a link to complete the award nomination will be sent to you. Once you have completed the nomination form, we will review your nomination. As you can imagine, sometimes we receive a lot of applications, this process can take up to 90 days. If you have any questions, please contact the MVP global support channel.
